How to Copy Books on CD to Your iPod for iTunes Using Windows

This is for anyone who wants to add books on CD's to their itunes.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
1.
So the first thing you are going to do is put the CD in your computer, easy right? This will be easy. Once you put the first CD in 1 of 2 things will happen based on your settings. Either your disk will immediately show up in iTunes or Windows Media Player, or a box will pop up asking you how you want to open the disk. Either way, the process is the same.
2.
If the CD is playing because you put it in, go ahead and press stop. It doesn’t need to be running. If that box popped up asking how to open it…just close it. We don’t need it.
3.
Go to the Start menu located in the lower left had corner of the computer and click on the My Computer icon. When you click on this icon it should bring up a list of files stored on your computer. There should be a section that states:

Devices with Removable Storage

Under this section will be an area that says Audio CD (D:) (If it has a different letter that is okay).
4.
Right click on this Audio CD drive and select “Open”.

Now you should have a screen that lists your tracks on the CD. We now want to make a folder and copy those tracks into the folder. If you know how to make a folder you may skip this next part. If you don’t keep reading.
5.
To make a new folder go back to the Start menu and select My Documents. Once in My Documents use the path: File >> New >> Folder
6.
Make a new Folder and name it the name of your book. Reduce this window so that you can now see your new folder and your CD tracks at the same time. Open your audiobook folder and then go to your CD track page. Click on Track01 and while holding down the mouse button hold down the shift button and click on the last track, for me this is Track17. This will highlight all the tracks. Once they are highlighted you can right click to copy them and then paste them in the new file. They should be copied to your new folder.
7.
Now, if you haven’t already done so, download the Mp3 to iPod converter. Once it is downloaded and installed, you now have 2 choices. You can pull each CD into the converter and covert it individually or you can do them as a group. You may want a file (subfolder) for each CD so you don’t get them confused. The Converter will change the Mp3 format into the protected AAC format so that the file will show up in your iTunes Audiobook Folder. After the file(s) are converted, you may click on the file that is the one you converted and it will start playing in iTunes. You may also use the iTunes import feature to import the file. Once it shows in iTunes you can sync your iPod and Viola! The CD will appear in your Audiobook playlist as one track. This process will also work for books you down load in the public domain from sites like Librovox.
